ProLite is
the latest innovation for non-invasive cosmetic skin treatment. ProLite
is a highly effective light treatment for facial redness,
flushing and pigmentary problems such as sun spots. ProLite works best
on the face, neck and chest and can be used to improve the overall
appearance of sun damaged skin. It can also be used to lighten sun spots
on the
shoulders, back and top of the hands. ProLite works by delivering a
series of gentle light pulses to the skin. Three to six treatments are
necessary
for optimal results and should be done every 3-4 weeks. After each
session you will experience a gradual improvement in skin tone, texture,
redness,
and pigmentation and sun spots.
Before
ProLite Treatment: You will be asked to fill out a consent
form prior to receiving ProLite treatment. It is important to notify
us if you are on any oral medications. Certain medications may cause
photosensitivity and will cause an exaggerated response to the light
treatment. If you are using any form of RetinA, retinol, Tazorac,
Differin or alpha hydroxys, it is advised that you discontinue these
two days prior to ProLite.
During
ProLite Treatment: Each treatment takes 15 to 30 minutes.
ProLite is a light source and generates some heat when applied to
the skin. The tip will be chilled for your comfort and a soothing
gel applied to the skin before the treatment. There may be some discomfort
during the treatment, for more sensitive skin a topical anesthetic
may be applied before the treatment.
After
ProLite Treatment: The skin will be red and flushed after
the treatment. The tiny vessels are more visible and the brown spots
appear darker. The redness lasts just a few hours and should decrease
slowly in the next few days. We may prescribe a topical cortisone
lotion for you to apply after the treatment to reduce inflammation
and redness. If you experience any blistering after a ProLite treatment
please notify our office immediately. You will start noticing improvements
several weeks after you first treatment. For optimal results three
to six treatments are required.
